    Description

Very nice vintage sterling silver souvenir spoon for an Mount Tacoma / Mount Ranier.  Very collectible Native American Indian profile.  Manufactured by Howard Sterling Co., which operated 1886 to 1902 in Providence Rhode Island.  Age of spoon consistent with depiction of ships in the harbor, and timing of name change of the mountain.  In 1890, the U. S. State Board on Geographic Names decided the name would be Mt. Ranier.  Tacoma is the old Puyallup Native American name meaning "snow covered mountain" or "greater than Mount Baker".

The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge.  If you have a question on an item prior to purchase, please ask. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
