    Additional Info
J.B. Owens started his own pottery company in 1891. He built a new plant and started manufacturing pottery in 1896. The Utopian line was a high-glaze brown ware with underglaze slip painting similar to Roseville, Rookwood and Weller. Owens manufactured pottery for only 10 years and won critical acclaim but closed in 1907. The Utopian line is their most recognizable.
This particular Owen Utopian vase is a nice small cabinet or apartment vase. Perfect for any mantle or book shelf. Displays extremely well. The underglaze slip-painting of an Iris flower is exceptionally well done. This little moon vase is fairly scarce so now is your chance to own a piece of pottery history. This is a beautiful vase and is waiting for a new home.
Exceptional small vase in that it has no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very minor underglaze crazing on this wonderful piece. It may appear more pronounced due to the macro lens used for the photography. There is a chip on one of the feet which can be professionally repaired. It is hardly noticeable since someone tried to repair it already. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
